Executive board of ICL constitutes some of the big names in the field of
cricket with Kapil Dev as the chairman. The other members of
the ICL (Indian Cricket League) include Dean Jones, Tony Greig,
and Kiran More. Some other members would also be short-listed
in a short while.
ICL executive board is a paid group of members that govern the functioning of
this private cricket league. The involvement of some of the repute international
and national cricket players in the executive board of the ICL has reflected an
optimistic effort by the Essel Group for the promotion of cricket in India.
It was formed in the year 2007 by Essel Group, with the aim in mind to put
forth a counterattack against the governmental organisation, BCCI that has been
governing cricket in India since 1929. However, it would take at least a span of
5-10 years before it can be deciphered whether or the ICL is able to accomplish
the task which formed the basis of its origin.
The main aim of the executive board of the ICL is to catapult talent from
across the country and encourage the spirit of cricket amongst them. These
talented young cricket players would further be divided amidst teams, which
would compete against each other for the cash prize of $1 million.
ICL’s paid executive board is expected to adopt an approach that is similar
to the standard corporate procedure in which key responsibilities would be
outlined to all members. Some of these outlines would constitute formation of
the 6 teams that would constitute the league, choosing the budding talent from
within the country that would play in the ICL, chalking out the playing
conditions and even preparing the rulebook, preparation of the grounds and
pitches and lastly creating innovations that will transform the game for
better.
